Doug McKay is the founder and managing partner of San Diego based Pro Investor Coach, LLC, a Registered Investment Advisory firm. He is also the host of the radio show Pro Investor Show on KCEO AM 1000. Doug can also be heard Monday thru Friday on KCBQ AM 1170 with his "What To Do Now" Live Market Updates.

When asked in an interview about what separates Pro Investor Coach from other firms, Doug replied:

"Well first off I would like to say that we don't look to compete with other firms. In other words instead of spending time on the competitive plain, we prefer to place ourselves on the creative plain."

Please explain:

"Let me be very direct. I think Wall Street is upside down. They have attempted and to a large degree succeeded in convincing the public to ride the market down while being parked in mutual funds with no downside protection. Their strategy is designed primarily for one direction, up. Unfortunately this method has created substantial wealth destruction in our society recently.

It's a different game now.

When I bought my first stock (MCD) in 1985 you could succeed by purchasing fundamentally sound companies for the long haul. Today, 'buy and hold' is dead and is only effective when the market is trending in your direction. Bottom line is you have to cut your losses short and let your profits flow. This can only be accomplished by timing the market while incorporating protective stops (mental or hard) to limit loss and capture gain.

Our entire investment model is fueled by education. This is the creative plain. We don't take on a new client unless they are willing to learn. The more the client understands and learns about how we control risk, the more confidence they have, the better they sleep. The better they sleep, the better we sleep."

Doug attributes his success to the years he spent as an independent trader.

Doug currently holds a Series 3, 63 and 65 License along with a Life Insurance License (OB54719).
